Emails & notes

10/13/2007 -

Harold V,
My internet addresses are gr8pook@sbcglobal.net and gr8eugeni@aol.com
My cell phone number (best bet)  is (408) 839-6821
and my home address is;
1906 Magdalena Circle #49, Santa Clara,  Ca. 95051.
I would like to be listed as possible to attend.   I do look forward to see all of you at reunion.  Have not been back to the Manor in many years.  My work with Lockheed Martin Missles & Space engineering has kept me pretty occupied and traveling a lot all over.
Thanks for doing a great job in organizing this great event.
Carl

10/12/2007 -

Harold please change me to a "maybe" - I will notify you with plenty of time in the future.

Thanks.
Rich Mc Kune

10/6/2007 - I'm where I have to deal with dial up so I'm only sending a couple of thoughts so I don't forget them.  I think of Stan Naumovitz (sp?) and I seem to remember that he died or am I confusing him with Andy Rudick Jr.??  I bet Vic Diescher would love to come and he played on earlier teams.  Mike Fisher.  Maybe I already mentioned him.  Then you have some younger guys like Keith Schliermacher (sp/), Lee Denman, Don Weigand.  Maybe that's going too far afied; I don't know.  I plan to do some googling when I get back to my computer on Wednesday.  See if I can find some of those cheerleaders.

John

9/26/2007 - First, I'm thrilled that you, Hal, have taken the ball and run with it.  It's already a reality.  Second, thanks Bill, Linda, Barry and Janet for volunteering to help us make good decisions.  Let me react to your talking points, Hal.  On the Sat. golf, I would think of just making it available to those that are interested.  Si used to work at Tennanah Lake Golf Course. I know it still exits because I tried to put something together with my three brother-in-laws (originally from Youngsville) a couple of years ago.  At that time head pro was Robert Menges and tel. nol was 607-498-5502 and e-mail was tlgtgolf@aol.com.  We could just communicate that golf is available and have people tell us a month or so in advance so we could make foursomes and maybe some games.  Tour of LMCS.  You said Al O'Keefe is interested in attending the dinner.  He would be a good one to help us put together a tour.  I seem to recollect that he has been on the school board for many years (but maybe not still).  Class Reunion.  I think this helps us with the '63 class.  And as I understand it, it involves several class years, so I think they would welcome us unless we go beyond their capacity.  Inviting Others.  Yes, others should be welcome.  Maybe the word "inviting" isn't quite right because we will never invite all the right people.  Rather, it should be open to anyone who has a legitimate interest.  Certainly, anyone who played for Si and those that are still living who were fans.  I sense that it ought to be by word of mouth rather than we sending invitations.  I know from my dad's funeral that Carl Edwards would love to come.  He was a guard with the Al O'Keefe team.  Others that I think of are Richard Hendrickson, Mike Fisher, Gene Barnecott (sp?).  Bill and Barry, you probably can think of more.  The Agenda.  I think you have the outline, Hal.  If we offer the golf on Sat., maybe Linda and Janet can come up with something for the women who do not play golf.  Maybe this is where the tour of the school can come in, if we find it doable.  What does Barry do as MC?  I have faith in him to do what he is comfortable with and have him tell us what kind of material he would like us to resurrect.  Peoples stories of their memories always seem to go over well.  It's all about how you get at them without opening the floor up to a lot of rambling.  Rather than having something that people take with them, I would rather that people write a paragraph or two on where they have been and what they have been doing since high school and post on the web site so all can read it BEFORE the reunion.  Maybe we can compile that and have it to take with them after the fact as well.  Hal, I defer to you on setting up whatever account you need to, but I'm willing to pay whatever upfront costs are involved and get reimbursed later.  Pay for Coach?  Yes.  And don't try to figure this into people's costs.  We'll just take care of it.  People may welcome suggestions on places to stay (Me). I've stayed at Lanza's in recent years but they are trying to sell it and who knows.  Good places in Liberty and Roscoe?  Hal, you my remember the CD that ran continuously at my dad's visitation.  Could we do that with just the pictures you already have?  Input from the rest of you will be important.

9/26/2007 - Hal, We just got back and I'm catching up.  The section on the reunion on the web site looks great.  Do I read the chart as Harriett saying she and Ral can't make it??  What does P stand for in the contact column?  I'll spend some time trying to track down some of the ones that haven't been contacted.

9/12/2007 -

Harold - so good to me - it should be a real fun time.

9/6/2007 - Hal,~~~~I'll find '59-'60 addresses and get them to you....(Note:  I think Arnie Robinson should be included.  His heart murmur denied him inclusion on our team, but his practice presence and dedication to the team was so important to us.)....Barry

9/6/2007 - Some last minute replies before we head to the airport this afternoon.  On
our #8 to you envision something that we can send out beforehand or
something that gets handed out at the reunion??  The trip we are on is put
together by INTRAV and the name of the boat is Sound of Music.  Trip goes
from Amsterdam to Budapest.  Let's make sure Si can make that date before we
go too far.

I guess we can start trying to find everone, where the yearbooks will
probably be the best definition of who were on the teams and squads.  I will
be glad to spend time with this upon my return.

Thanks to you, we are well on the way.  I'll touch base when we return on
the 24th.  Heard anything from Bill and Linda??

John

9/4/2007 - Hal,~~~~I've received all of your emails....Keep em com'in!!!  Yesterday was hectic all around and I didn't get to the computer.  You've made tremendous strides in such a short time.  Your capabilities on the computer are far beyond what I understand.  I'll check for a '60 yearbook and whatever morsals I can locate on the '59-'60 team.  If I can't find much, I'll bet Bill will have kept most everything.  I'll also get to work on cheerleaders by contacting Shirley(Fredenburgh) or Joan DuMond.  I 'll give some thought about reunion ideas as well.  A while bacl I talked with Norm and I may be able to locate a phone number in some pile I've (un) "filed."   GREAT job so far----YOU 'DA MAN!!!!!~~~~~Barry

9/3/2007 - Harold,
Call Gert Sturdevant and she might still have info on Mr. Schultz.

(Mr. Schultz died this year of pancreatic cancer - Rick)

9/3/2007 -You have them listed on the site.  I ask Bill & Linda
to send me the 59-60.  I didn't have their email.  Are
you sure that is right?  Tom Vick is also interested.
It is our year for  the reunion.  I will also try and
get to Rich Welch.  Barry should have all the address
for the class of 60.  He always sends out the
invitions.  I have the class of 63 and Bob Smith has
the class of 62.  61 is Linda Roche.

hrv - I agree that we should pick our committee members and should include
the
players and cheerleaders (and spouses) for the 3 years the record was set.

hrv- Bill, Linda and Janet are good choices since they have already
expressed
interest in a reunion. I'm only an hour away from the Manor and visit often
so
I can make any arrangements.

hrv - I think it should be Kings since we had most of our functions there
and
they do a nice job. I know the new owners and will contact them when
necessary.
Lanza's is up for sale so it may change with new owners.

hrv - The emphasis should be for the three teams and cheerleader squads but
I like the idea of special guests which might be anyone that had an interest
in
going to the reunion. I would hate to exclude anyone that really wanted to
go.
(maybe we could invite Ralph Kirchner and roast him)

hrv - definitely cocktail hour(s) and dinner. A presentation afterwards with
a
chronology of the record-setting seasons with pictures, stats and other
stories
such as our fans that traveled to all the games through snow, sleet and
rain.
Barry Foster would be excellent to get involved and makes a great MC.
I've heard him talk at several functions and I'm sure he would love to get
involved and would keep the evening entertaining. He will keep it lively
but we probably need that from our "senior members".
A tour of the school would be good as well as Golf. It would be interesting
to get Si to play and have him beat us all)

hrv - yes this is something that I can take care of. Booklets or CD - we
should
have something for everyone to take with them.
The website will be a good repository for pictures, stories and events. I
have
lots of room on the website and it's easy to publish pictures, stories and
events.
However, not that many people our age use computers so a hard copy is
necessary.
>

hrv - I have all the clippings in a scrapbook too. I'm sure both Barry and
Bill have
the same. The Record electronic archive doesn't go back that far but I will
enquire
if they might have them archived.

hrv - yes we should target a firm schedule of events by the end of the year
to
get on everyones calendar. I think we are both in agreement with everything.
Lots of nice river cruises in Europe - which one are you taking?

hrv - I like the Friday before the reunion as a date for the dinner. The
reunion
could be open to any of our group. I've always wanted to go to a reunion of
the class of '63. I can check with the reunion committee to see if this is
OK
for our members to attend. I would think even Si would want to go to a
reunion.

Action Items:

hrv - contact Bill, Linda and Janet with this information and notify they
have
been drafted.
hrv - update website

9/1/2007 - Hal,

I spent time this a.m. reading through the various e-mails, visiting
LivingstonManor.net/BasketBall and joining the yahoo discussion group.  The
webcite is great and makes it clear to me that a reunion would be
successful.

Here are my thoughts for your reaction:

1. you and I should agree on some basic things like format, who else we
include to help us make decisions, whether its limited to the three teams
and cheerleaders or is broader to include others who played for Si and maybe
the schedule for getting things done.

2.My thoughts on others to help us make decisions gravitate to Bill and
Linda Vick and Janet (Smith) Martinkovic.  This gives us representation from
all three teams and cheerleader groups.  Downside is that no one lives in
the Manor to make the arrangements.  Would Barry Foster be a good one?

3. Whatever that group ends up being can then tie down date and place,
making reservations at some restaurant, and get more specific with format

4. Then its taking the invitation to everyone and asking for help finding
everyone.

5.On date and place, our age and experience with John DuMond tells me we
should shoot for next summer.  Places I think of are Kings and Lanza's.  You
know better than I about who does a good job with things like this.

6.On who gets invited, I lean toward just the three teams and the three
cheerleading squads. But there is something to be said for others that
played for Si.  the latter may be much more difficult to define.  Maybe its
the former with some special guests?  It's always hard to know where to draw
the line.

7. On format, I think cocktails and dinner is a given, don't you??  Then its
a matter of whether we do more like have a tour of the school, make golf
available, have a lunch earlier in the day, things like that.  Do we have a
MC after dinner or invite anyone to share their memories or a combination. I
don't think there should be any speeches - just someone to keep the evening
going.  I've been told that Foster is pretty good at this.  Have you ever
heard him??

8. Could we get personal histories and memories from people and either post
them on the web site or put together a booklet.  This could be distributed
to everyone to help persuade others to come.

9. I have a scrapbook of most of the clippings from our two seasons.  Any
chance of searching the archives of the Middletown Record (or whatever it is
now called)??

10. On schedule, it would be good if we could go out to everyone before the
end of this year.  I'm out of pocket most of the month of September (Bonnie
and I are taking a river cruise in Europe for our 40th anniversary).  I'm
here until the 6th and return on the 24th.  If you and have agreement by the
middle of October, that would give us maybe another month to six weeks to
put the details together with the others, so that we could go out to
everyone in the December time frame.

11. On dates, Janet suggested the Friday night of the class reunion.  This
year that was third week in July.    That would be the class of 63 so its
the juniors of the 61/62 season.  Downside might be the dearth of places to
stay for those that are not within driving distance.

OK, that's my brain dump.  I'm not trying to dictate; its all just food for
thought and for you to react to.
John

7/30/2007 - I just sent John a list of the cheerleaders 1960-1961
Janet

7/30/2007 - I would be interested in attending a basketball reunion.
Charlie Banks

7/30/2007 - I do not know how I could make any reunion but would like to offer my current location
and occupation in Sunnyvale, California.
I am a Senior Facilities Design Engineer for Lockheed Martin Missles and Space Co.
I can be reached at my sbcglobal address or at my carl.eugeni@lmco.com address.
I have made contact with Charlie Banks recently.
Thanks for the 60-61 team photos and hope you get get in touch with our other teammates and cheerleaders.
Please share their internet addresses with me and mine with them.
Thanks again,
Carl Eugeni

7/28/2007 -  Hi,
Here is charlie's address:
1 Colonial Dr.
Apt.B
Little Falls, N.J. 07024
Phone: 201-694-0386
This is his cell number.
Yes, I was a cheerleader. I was on the varsity squad
with Janet smith. Joyce Benton, Joyce Clark, Vickie
Estabrook and I would have to look in the yearbook to
remember who else was with us.
That would be fun to all get together. It would be
funny if we could do an old cheer (ha ha)
Becky Banks Sherwood

7/28/2007 - Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. We were away all week. I
haven't got to the website yet, but plan to this weekend.

What do you think of the idea of a reunion (we could call it the 50th) of
the players and cheerleaders who were involved in the long win streak that
spanned three basketball seasons. It could be next summer or the summer
after. Janet (Smith) is willing to help with the cheerleaders. Maybe
between the three of us (and maybe Bill Vick, who would be good to get to
the ones involved in the '59/'60 season) we could pull it off. I would
envision cocktails and dinner at Kings or somewhere similar.

And thanks for Charlie's e-mail. Where does he live; do you know? Let's
stay in touch. Oh! do you have either a snail mail address or an e-mail
address for Ral and Harriet?? She gave me a website for a winery in NM
where they have bought some land and plan to build, but that doesn't lead me
to them.
